Mission Statement

Lombard Town Centre is a community-based organization, dedicated to preserving and promoting our historic downtown as the heart of Lombard and a vibrant commercial destination.

Vision Statement

The vision of Lombard Town Centre is to create and sustain a flourishing downtown business district that preserves the history of our village for the benefit of residents and visitors, now and in the future.

We dedicate ourselves to:

  • Establishing a downtown business district with successful retail niches and quality restaurants, attractive to prospective businesses and consumers.
  • Documenting and preserving the historic buildings in the downtown district and educating our residents about these architecturally unique and precious structures, and their stories.
  • Educating and assisting property and business owners regarding possible design enhancements to existing structures that would improve the esthetic value of our downtown.
  • Hosting a variety of quality events in our downtown to celebrate our rich heritage and unique character, and to provide exposure to our downtown business district to residents and visitors.
  • Forming positive and cooperative working relationship with the Village of Lombard elected officials, staff and committees, and other community organizations.
  • Recruiting a strong membership and volunteer base, committed to the core values of Lombard Town Centre and Illinois Main Street.

Our Approach

The National Trust for Historic Preservation's Main Street program has developed an approach to downtown revitalization that has been successful in more than a thousand towns and cities throughout the country. The four points (committees) described in the next column are the driving force behind Lombard Town Centre:

  • Organization - Chair: Kim Cotton - This committee is the backbone of Lombard Town Centre. It is responsible for membership recruitment, fundraising, and communications (e.g. the website and the quarterly Newsletter).
  • Promotion - Chair: Colleen Whittington - The committee is responsible for planning and executing retail promotional activities, special events and other marketing campaigns for downtown Lombard.
  • Design - Chair needed! - The job of this committee is to help beautify the downtown by suggesting and making improvements on such things as window displays, sidewalks, street lights and other landscaping conveys.

    - Please call Dan Whittington 630-518-2457 for further information

  • Economic restructuring - Chair Wayne Kankovsky - The volunteers of this committee work on strengthening the economic conditions of the current businesses downtown while recruiting new ones.

Volunteers for events and projects and of course new committee members are always needed, it is great giving back and we always do all we can to have some fun! Please call the Lombard Town Centre office 630-620-8063, or Dan Whittington 630-518-2457 for additional details.

All committees meet the first Monday of each month, visit Capone's on St Charles Rd in downtown Lombard in the downstairs banquet room at 6:15 - 8:15 PM(except for holidays, which will then be the second Monday) All welcome for a social gathering to exchange ideas, enjoy beverages and a light dinner, Presidents update briefing, then our committees break out in their groups to plan the upcoming events and projects.

Feel free to join a committee break out session or join in briefly on all to get an idea what LTC is up to. Our Executive Director Karen Stonehouse will be available during the meeting to visit with during the Downtown Forums. All committees meet twice per month as needed, the schedule is decided on by the individual committees. Please feel free to ask for additional information or request to join in fun on the committee of your choosing!
